MUNNAR- THE HILL STATION FROM BRITISH ERA

Munnar is a hill station on the foothills of the Western Ghats. Located 1600 mt. above the sea level, Munnar is one of the most sought after tourist spots of Kerala owing to its scenic beauty-lush carpeted plantations of tea and spices around its hills. It is also the largest tea growing region in the south. I went to Munnar in 2010 during my family road trip from Lucknow to Kanyakumari.

One of the things I enjoyed the most in Munnar was to stop on the way and walk through the tea gardens and discover those little scenic places around Munnar.

Munnar is one of the most beautiful summer getaways in India. Over the years Munnar has become one of the most popular hill stations in South Indian state, Kerala. Not only does it offer a fantastic view of the hills and valleys but also brings you close to the nature in a way most city dwellers need. Munnar is a simple town in the Western Ghats and is known for its old world charm from the British era. Munnar is not only famous for the beautiful views of the valley it offers but also for the variety of animals and birds that can be spotted in the National Parks situated here.munnar 17 - MUNNAR- THE HILL STATION FROM BRITISH ERAMunnar is situated in Idukki district of Kerala and truly justifies that the tag “God’s own Country” to Kerala means much more than just another cliché. With the beauty of Western Ghats encompassed, and charm of a hill station captured at its best, Munnar is a treat to a worn out soul. Munnar is the center for the merging of three mountain streams- Mudrapuzha, Nallathanni and Kundala and hence the name ‘Munnar’.

Heavenly swirls of clouds passing beneath you, amidst the greens and vast mountains. Also, luscious reds and purples, beautiful flowers with shades of yellow and pink. Feel the breeze embrace you when leaves from the pines and oaks dance to the tunes of the wind. Munnar it is. Pure bliss.
